The Role

The Apprentice Draughtsperson / Design Engineer is suited to an ambitious student looking to commence their HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or is already working towards HNC) and looking to join a highly creative and technical team, experienced in the design of equipment for use both offshore and subsea.  The Apprentice Draughtsperson / Design Engineer will be exposed to all elements of the engineering function, seeing how we take conceptual designs from a blank sheet of paper through to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering skills in Mechanical, Structural, Hydraulic and Material engineering.
  • 3D Modelling – Using Autodesk Inventor.
  • 2D Drafting – Using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Create calculations using excel and Mathcad.
  • Preparation of technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support for workshop production.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical tenders.

Knowledge and Experience

  • CAD skills, preferably Autodesk and Inventor.
  • Knowledge of ANSYS package.
  • Understanding of the industry codes, ASME, NORSOK, DNV.
  • Microsoft Office.

  • HNC (or working towards) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering.
  • Full valid driving licence.
