Senior Design Engineer

The Role

Working for Tekmar Energy, the role of the Senior Design Engineer is, as part of a team to carry out a wide range of engineering design activities, ensuring that projects meet the technical requirements in the most efficient and compliant manner.  The Senior Design Engineer will be involved in overseeing subcontracted works, through to fundamental design, mechanical and thermal simulation of components and systems, prototyping and physical testing and on-site and subcontract manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight to sub-contracted engineering deliverables, reviewing, interpreting, and providing guidance on any further engineering requirements
  • Reviewing client contract documents with respect to technical input
  • Creation and checking of technical documents to support the Development, Sales, Project, and Manufacturing phases
  • Creation and checking of calculations, manufacturing drawings and general arrangements to support the products through their life cycle
  • Use of Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and sketching to provide conceptual and detailed designs
  • Analysis of mechanical systems using hand calculations and non-linear FEA with ANSYS.  Developing calculation sheets and modelling methods as continual improvement
  • Working closely with colleagues across the business, take ownership of design development, manufacturing, testing and take appropriate corrective actions where required
  • Lead technical aspects of the project delivery within Internal and Client meetings
  • Efficient and rapid development of new product technologies, following a formal TRL process applied to new products, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Evaluating the performance of designs using FMEA and other techniques. Leading design reviews to ensure designs meet the required specification and industry standards
  • Drive efficient delivery of engineering deliverables

Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven experience in a design engineering role
  • Experience in product development, design and structural analysis.
  • Good knowledge of industry and regulatory codes in offshore industry.
  • A good understanding of mechanical engineering principles (statics, thermal, fatigue etc).
  • Experience in selecting and designing with polymers and metals.
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Subsea, Offshore Wind, Oil & Gas Industry experience.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experienced user of Autodesk Inventor or similar parametric modeller
  • Experienced user of Mathcad and/or Excel for engineering calculations
  • Experience of ANSYS
  • Experience in Orcaflex software

The Role

Working for Tekmar Energy, the Design Engineer will be required, as part of a team to carry out a wide range of engineering design activities, taking products from concept through to sales and ultimately project delivery.  The Design Engineer will be involved in optimising designs, through fundamental design, mechanical and thermal simulation of components and systems, prototyping and physical testing and on-site and subcontract manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use of Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and sketching to provide conceptual and detailed designs

Projects Administrator Apprentice

The Role

Due to internal changes and expansion, Tekmar Energy is recruiting for a Projects Administrator to join the Projects Team who shall be supported through a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.

The Projects Administrator will report directly to the Head of Projects and will support both Project Managers and Project Engineers on tasks such as document control, general project documentation, project coordination, logistics and project close out activities. The Project Administrator will also support the Head of Projects with key project reporting to the Senior Management Team.

The role will also allow the opportunity to develop and understand wider business administration activities across all functions of the business including tasks such as ordering consumables, organising diaries, ordering and maintaining stationary, booking venues, catering and much more. 

The role is primarily, but not limited to, supporting the project function within the business, to assist with ensuring projects are effectively executed to exceptional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Document Control (issuing, receiving, and logging of all Customer Project Documentation) for all Project deliverables to the Customers
  • Monitoring Master Document Registers, document submission and returns and reporting variances
  • Liaise with Project Managers and Project Engineers to support project filing, documentation, product delivery and general project-related support
  • Ensuring key documents are available to support internal group stakeholders such as engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, QHSE and test team
  • Input into monthly Projects & Engineering reports by updating and extracting project data and tracking KPIs
  • Develop the Project Document Control for all Project deliverables to the Customers.
  • Monitoring Master Document Registers, document submission and returns and reporting variances
  • Support the Project Team with travel and Customer visits/meetings
  • Any other duties which support the Projects team in executing projects
  • General administration support to the Projects team and wider business areas

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent). Must include Grade A-C / 9-4 or equivalent in both Maths and English

Experience/Knowledge

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office i.e. word, excel and PowerPoint etc. at a basic level
