Working for Tekmar Energy, the Proposals Engineer will play a pivotal role in achieving the company’s order intake targets for its engineered product portfolio across global offshore energy markets. The Proposals Engineer will be responsible for managing opportunities through the formal proposals process. This includes creating and shaping proposals in response to customer ITTs/RFQs, co-ordinating proposal inputs from other departments, and generating detailed cost estimates, ensuring the timely submission of high-quality competitive proposals. The Proposal Engineer will work closely with Sales Managers in support of proposal clarifications and contract negotiations with customers.

Key Responsibilities

Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

Objectives:

  • Working closely with Sales Managers, drive opportunities from receipt of ITT/RFQ to contract award following Tekmar’s gated proposals process, ensuring adherence to the workflow and required approvals/governance.
  • Review and organise incoming ITT/RFQ information and arrange internal proposal kick-off meetings when required.
  • Management and administration of the proposals area of Tekmar’s opportunity management system.
  • Co-ordinate and consolidate proposal inputs aligned to customer requirements and the agreed proposals tactics to create compelling competitive commercial and technical proposals. Inputs will include technical specifications, time schedules, HSEQ and legal information, which are obtained via collaboration with internal departments.
  • Generate detailed and sometimes complex cost estimates for a range of engineered products using Excel spreadsheets or similar tools. Work closely with Engineering to ensure these align with the technical specification provided and with Supply Chain to ensure appropriate material costs are used.
  • Work closely with Sales Managers to generate competitive pricing and commercial proposals.
  • Demonstrate strong writing skills in preparing detailed and professional technical and commercial proposals.
  • Attend global customer meetings remotely and occasionally in-person during the pre-contract stage. Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills in supporting Sales Managers at these meetings, contribute to the discussions and negotiations as necessary, particularly in areas relating the proposal, and act as a conduit to internal departments.
  • Working closely with Sales Mangers, manage and co-ordinate the compilation of an agreed contract with the customer
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Tekmar products and their applications.
  • Lead internal proposal approval meetings pre-contract, and sales-to-projects handover meetings post-contract, to ensure a smooth journey through the proposals process and transition to the project process.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar roles in the offshore wind or oil and gas industry.
  • High level of both technical and commercial acumen.
  • Experienced in communicating and presenting to audiences at all levels.
  • Detailed and methodical approach towards problem solving.
  • Experience in multi-tasking while managing tight deadlines.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

The role of the Principal Geotechnical Engineer is to manage and deliver projects from both technical and financial perspective; from initial client contact to issue of reports, across all areas of detailed geotechnical assessment in the offshore energy sector. This includes management of client relationships, management of a team of engineers, and working closely with the Engineering Director. Projects can vary from geotechnical design of e.g. foundations, scour assessments, rock berms, or Jack-Up Assessments, through to cable engineering and secondary stabilization assessment.
The role includes supervising projects internally, through delegation and management, review and QC, and actively carrying out project work to satisfy our customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

Objectives:

  • Support the Engineering Director and lead team in the preparation of geotechnical studies, designs, and reports, predominantly associated with subsea structures.
  • Maintain time and project records and manage budgets and junior team members.
  • Conduct, review, supervise, and issue data assessments and geotechnical analyses.
  • Client liaison and lead in the preparation of geotechnical study reports.
  • Review and keep a working knowledge of up-to-date design specifications and standards.
  • Develop and manage in house design principles and methodologies to ensure consistency across projects.
  • Assist in the technical and commercial management and planning of the business.
  • Proactively develop technical skills in accordance with the needs of the job and the agreed personal development plan.
  • Carry out business development activities and develop the subsea structures division within Ryder.
  • Takes senior management responsibility for ensuring team and company compliance with HSEQ.
  • Actively participate and lead by example in the Company’s Quality and HSE Systems and Procedures.
  • Upkeep and ownership of your continued professional development including attendance at conferences, publishing works, presenting, and attending training courses. 

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience working in a geotechnical engineering environment in the offshore sector, expected 10 years’ experience minimum with particular focus on seabed infrastructure.
  • Good working knowledge of ground investigation, geotechnical engineering, and geological processes.
  • Experience of offshore geotechnical design, including soil-structure integration, jack up leg penetration assessment, trenching assessments, Cable Burial Risk Assessment (CBRA).
  • Able to lead projects for conception to completion, with client liaison, project planning, team and financial management.
  • Active participation/graduate membership of a professional organisation such as the Institution of Civil Engineers, Geological Society, Society for Underwater Technology.

Tekmar Energy are pioneers in the Offshore Wind Industry and have a reputation for delivering technical solutions to a wide range of subsea asset protection applications.  Working for Tekmar Energy, the Analysis Engineer will be join our team to play an important role in the delivery of dynamic analysis and finite-element analysis services for the Offshore Wind and Oil & Gas Sectors.

Working as part of the Engineering Team, the Analysis Engineer will be involved in identifying customer analysis requirements, developing solutions to engineering problems as well as leading and monitoring analysis on live projects and contributing towards the ongoing continuous improvement of analysis techniques.  Professional experience, combined with knowledge of packages such as OrcaFlex, Ansys or Abaqus will be used to perform and develop analysis techniques as well as being shared and used to mentor and develop Junior/Graduate Analysis Engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

Objectives:

  • Work as part of the engineering team to identify customer analysis requirements and develop solutions to engineering problems.
  • Lead and monitor analysis on live projects to ensure key deliverables met on time.
  • Contribute towards the ongoing continuous improvement of analysis techniques.
  • Reviewing client proposals – recognising client requirements and identifying the most appropriate analysis to meet their needs.
  • Preparing and reviewing analysis input data – liaising with clients, internal engineering team including the analysis team to ensure the most appropriate data is available and utilised.
  • Building and developing analysis models and methodologies.
  • Reviewing and checking OrcaFlex analysis models built by engineering team.
  • Running simulations and interpreting results.
  • Writing and reviewing reports.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience using design FEA analysis tools such as ANSYS, Abacus
  • Experience of using Orcaflex
  • Experience of a range of analysis methods
  • Experience of 3D CAD for design
  • Experience of ideally Subsea engineering within Offshore wind farms, or suitable related industry such as marine, oil and Gas etc.
  • Experience of Subsea umbilicals, riser, flowlines (SURF) and or power cables
  • Experience working in a modern manufacturing environment with understanding of production processes and relation to the products being designed and analysed
  • Knowledge of lean principles applied in both a manufacturing and design engineering function to support ongoing development of the analysis function and wider organisation.
  • Experience testing and correlation of result to computational analysis

The Role

Tekmar Energy are pioneers in the Offshore Wind Industry and have a reputation for delivering technical solutions to a wide range of subsea asset protection applications.  Working for Tekmar Energy, the Design Engineer will be joining our team to play an important role in the product development of cable protection systems for the Offshore Wind and Oil & Gas Sectors.

Working in the Engineering team, the Design Engineer will be required, as part of this team to carry out a wide range of engineering design activities, taking products from concept through to sales and ultimately project delivery.  The Design Engineer will be involved in optimising designs, through fundamental design, mechanical and thermal simulation of components and systems, prototyping and physical testing and on-site and subcontract manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

Objectives:

  • Use of Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and sketching to provide conceptual and detailed designs.
  • Analysis of mechanical systems using a range of methods from hand calculations, spreadsheets, design codes through to non-linear FEA with ANSYS.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the business, take ownership of design development, manufacturing, testing and take appropriate corrective actions where required.
  • Efficient and rapid development of new product technologies, following a formal TRL process applied to new products, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluating the performance of designs using FMEA and other techniques. Leading design reviews to ensure designs meet the required specification and industry standards.
  • Technical document writing to support the Development, Sales, Project, and Manufacturing phases.
  • Creation and checking of calculations, manufacturing drawings and general arrangements to support the products through their life cycle.
  • Support project delivery and client interfaces with efficient delivery of engineering deliverables.
  • Partake in client meetings, presenting technical aspects of the project delivery.

 

Knowledge and Experience

• Proven experience in a design engineering role.
• Experience in product development, design and structural analysis.
• Good knowledge of industry and regulatory codes in offshore industry.
• A good understanding of mechanical engineering principles (statics, thermal, fatigue etc).
• Experience in selecting and designing with polymers and metals.
• Experience of 3D CAD Modelling and 2D drawing production to high standards
• Experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
• Subsea, Offshore Wind, Oil & Gas Industry experience.
